Operational Improvement Review, Paramedicine / Medical Transport
Eastern Health is the largest integrated health network in Newfoundland and Labrador servicing a regional population of more than 290,000 that includes the City of St. John’s and large rural and remote areas of the Avalon Peninsula. Pomax is conducting an operational review of the Paramedicine Medical Transport Program (PMT) system standards and service delivery, organizational structure, current and predicted service demands for ground and air ambulance services within the Eastern Health regional boundaries. The PMT Program has a large span of responsibility including Provincial Medical Oversight (PMO) and Regional Services including monitoring compliance, performance, and adherence to provincial ambulance polices for private and community ambulance operators.

The Provincial Health Minister, and Eastern Health President and CEO announced they are “100 per cent committed to implementing all of the recommendations” made by Pomax Consulting which amount to $39.5 million dollars. Pomax suggested a five-year timeframe for implementation of the recommendations, however the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Government is addressing some key items in 2015.
