Comprehensive Fire Service Review and Facility Needs Assessment

Pomax worked with the Kennebecasis Valley Fire Department on a comprehensive fire service review and facility needs assessment. The department is the regional fire service for the New Brunswick towns of Quispamsis and Rothesay, as well as parts of three other districts with a total population of approximately 30,000.

Our team conducted an audit of the department’s capabilities and operations to help them maintain a fire service that is capable, efficient, and responsive. The project involved a comprehensive review and analysis of all operational areas, apparatus and equipment inventory and maintenance, emergency response trends, and station locations. Our recommendations identified the best long-range strategy for service delivery while:

  • Ensuring firefighter safety
  • Increasing efficiency and effectiveness
  • Identifying the right-sized organization to meet community needs
