Ground Ambulance and Highway Rescue

Pomax Consulting is engaged with the Government of the Northwest Territories to examine territorial ground ambulance and highway rescue with a focus on determining and sustaining acceptable service standards and the required resources. Pomax will also assist the government with establishing a vision for ground ambulance and highway rescue, and developing an action plan to guide these services.

Key elements of this project include:

  • Identifying viable actions to address service levels
  • Completing a thorough analysis of industry standards and inter-jurisdictional comparative practice for the purpose of improving the understanding of factors that may influence the delivery and cost of ground ambulance and highway rescue services
  • Developing a financial cost-model based on applicable standards (g. NFPA 450 – EMS System Analysis and Planning), which provides a credible estimate for service delivery outside municipal boundaries
  • Working with key communities through interviews and a facilitated workshop to establish a vision for service delivery in  the Northwest Territories based on accredited industry standards
  • Determining the next steps based on the cost model and vision, and prepare an action plan to guide services over the next several years
  • Identifying a method to periodically assess the ground ambulance and highway rescue services system
  • Providing a draft action plan for consideration by the Government of the Northwest Territories
